With your settings, I can both get the better GFPS, and use the full monitor. I previously tried playing windowed 1920x1080 and GFPS was much improved, but then I'm only using 1/4 of my screen which is very disappointing. Only way to play is to pause the game any time I need to use the UI. Nearly unplayable because it causes massive UI lag, with 75% of mouse clicks dropped. I'm playing on a 3840x2160 monitor on AMD 6900XT GPU, and playing windowed 3840x2160 or full screen 3840x2160 I was getting 5 GFPS in busy areas of my fort. It's just the only way to play the game smooth and pixel perfect.

This will make your game crisp, sharp and a beautiful time, I suggest this for everyone from 1080p to 4k. When in game adjust the zoom until it looks pixel perfect. In Dwarf Fortress Settings > Graphics > set to full screen > set resolution to 1280 x 720 (or find the aspect ratio that suits) Nvidia: Open Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Adjust Desktop size and position > Integer ScalingĪMD: AMD Radeon Software > click on the Gear icon > Display from the sub-menu > Set GPU Scaling to Enabled then toggle Integer Scaling to Enabled Right Click the EXE > Properties > Compatibility > Change DPI Settings > Override high DPI > Set to Application This is for windows but following these steps and adjusting for different OS will do as well:įind the game EXE at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dwarf Fortress\Dwarf Fortress.exe Kitfox Discord #modding-discussion channelīronzemurder and Oilfurnace (illustrated)įinally a way to play the game with silky smooth FPS and super crisp pixel perfect graphics.
